I love to cook, I delight in experimenting with techniques and flavors, and most of all I  WANT TO PLEASE THE CUSTOMER.

I suppose my love of cooking first began to take root via two housekeepers employed by my parents (one full time-Susie), and one part-time (Effice). These two black women lived in what was then a very segregated “South” and did what most black women did at that time- try to get by. I think I can pretty much speak for my entire family by saying that these two women were truly loved     and were certainly very important legacies to all of us. .Blackberry picking, blackberry cobblers, fried pies and holiday meals created by these two women are some of my most cherished childhood memories.

Fast-forward a decade or so and in the autumn of his life, my father Roy developed a very keen interest in gourmet cooking, pouring over  James Beard’s and Julia Child’s cook books, preparing meals much unlike anything Susie, Effice,  or my mother Peggy would have ever undertaken. My father had a very intense passion for this new hobby of his, a passion that he passed on to me. The gift from him for which I am the most thankful.

Due to my parent’s early deaths, I began preparing meals for myself during my late teens and quickly realized that for me cooking was a form of self-expression as well as an outlet for my creativity.  Although I had no formal culinary training, my interest remained keen. After college, marriage, three children, and twenty years in a family business, at the age of 47 years old I decided to try to turn my dream into a reality.  In January, 2007, Food-Fite Incorporated opened strictly a catering business. In July 2009 we expanded offering prepared items ready for pick-up.
